About me
Sam is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist based in the West Midlands, where he holds a substantive consultant position at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. Sam graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2011 and completed foundation medical/surgical rotations within the Royal Free London group of hospitals before undertaking specialist radiology training within the West Midlands Postgraduate School of Radiology. As a Senior Registrar he completed subspecialist training in advanced Interventional Radiology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. He has a broad scope of NHS practice including cancer intervention (tumour embolisation/thermal ablation), embolotherapy for benign conditions (uterine fibroids & prostate hyperplasia), image-guided diagnostics, vascular access and general medical imaging. He also supports the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Regional Urological Cancer Team with imaging and interventional diagnostics. His non-NHS practice is focussed on providing vascular access services and palliative/diagnostic interventions for private oncology patients.
Sam has a keen interest in medical education with an associated postgraduate qualification; has spoken internationally as both a trainee and a consultant on a broad variety of topics within clinical radiology; and collaborates closely with medical industry colleagues in the design and evaluation of new devices and interventional treatments.
Outside of medicine, Sam enjoys music, cooking, travel and being silly with his 2-year old daughter.
