About me

Mr Paddy Subramanian is a fellowship trained Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultant with an NHS practice based at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
On the elective side (non-emergency) he has a high-volume clinical practice that helps patients suffering with hip and knee problems. A large portion of his practice focuses on the management of patients suffering from arthritis affecting the hip and knees. He also has an interest in promoting daycase arthroplasty (go home the same day of surgery after a hip or knee replacement). He also offers partial knee replacements for those patients who are suitable and want to avoid have a total knee replacement. On the emergency side, he has a special interest in treating complex upper and lower limb injuries.
Mr Paddy Subramanian started his medical training more than 20 years ago, graduating from the prestigious Imperial college London with dual degree qualifications. He went on to complete a Masters degree at Oxford University in musculoskeletal science, prior to completing his orthopaedic training programme in the University College Hospital London rotation.
Mr Paddy Subramanian has published extensively in the field of orthopaedics and a number of his research works have been awarded prestigious prizes.

Research interests

My research interest was started at an undergraduate level having completed a BSc at Imperial College London. In addition to also completing my medical degree at this prestigious institute, I went on to obtain a Masters in the science behind Musculoskeletal disorders at Oxford University having obtained a competitively based funded scholarship.
I have won prestigious prizes for my research work including 1st prize at the Royal Society of Medicine research days as as being the lead author in one of the most read British Medical Journal (BMJ) articles.

Personal interests

Outside work, I enjoy scuba diving and together with my wife, have developed a love for beech holidays with exciting dive sites.

Over the last few years, I have also found an early morning Jog/run to have a positive effect on my overall health and stamina and exercise in one form or another is something I would recommend to our patients.

Awards received

I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to carry out work that has led to some prize winning awards.
These have included winning the 1st Prizes for research works including:
1st prize at the Uren Foundation Imperial college for a paper on partial knee replacement,
1st Prize for the presidential poster award at the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association congee and 1st Prize for the Royal Society of Medicine Clinical paper in Orthopaedics.
