About me
I have over 10 years experience working as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, with both adults and young people with a variety of mental health conditions.
I am a strong advocate of mindful based practice. I consider that I have strong ethical principles. I am able to develop warm empathic relationships with clients and have a genuine interest in helping people work towards recovery.
I have recently completed EMDR therapy training, and am able to also use this as a stand alone therapy.
Prior to becoming an Integral Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I spent many years as a Registered Nurse working within the NHS with people with learning disabilities (RNLD). I worked with people with autism, sensory needs, sexualised behaviour, aggressive / assaultive behaviours and communication issues.
I feel very comfortable walking my dog in nature, woodland and unspoilt coastal areas. I am family focussed, and a keen animal lover. I am creative and artistic, and enjoy upcycling as a hobby. I also enjoy pilates and swimming.
Areas of interest
Areas of interest include depression; anxiety; bi-polar; PTSD; social anxiety; addiction; specific phobias (i.e. agoraphobia, vomit phobia, needle phobia, spider phobia, snake phobia); bi-polar disorder; and OCD.
I also work with people specifically around other issues including; self-esteem; anger management; relationships; self-harm; bereavement; resilience; weight; pain and sleep problems.
I have an interest in Compassion Based Therapy and Mindfulness. I have also completed extensive training in Attachment based disorders. I am also trained in EMDR therapy.
I currently work with adults, young people over age 13, and couples.
