About me

I was appointed Professor of Diabetes & Endocrinology at the University of Surrey and Consultant Physician at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 1998. Before this I was Senior Lecturer/ Consultant Physician at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital London. I run a full specialist diabetes and endocrine service including a large pituitary clinic. I am a full part of the general medical take in addition to running specialist clinics and doing extensive research. I am an invited speaker at prestigious diabetes and endocrine meetings and numerous international meetings all over the world. I have been Principal Investigator of a number of large multi-national clinical trials that have changed medical practice. I was appointed by NHS England to be a member of the "clinical reference group" for both specialist endocrinology and specialist diabetes. I am the diabetes and endocrine advisor to the Civil Aviation Authority and head of their groundbreaking program that allows insulin treated subjects to pilot an aircraft.
