About me
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Senior Practitioner in Psychotherapy, registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
With over 23 years' experience in NHS and independent practice settings, I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress-related difficulties, and challenges in relationships or at work. I provide structured, evidence-based psychological therapy that helps people understand what maintains distress and develop practical, sustainable ways of responding differently.
Professional registrations and accreditations:
Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Senior Practitioner in Psychotherapy (BPS)
Applied Psychology Practice Supervisor (BPS)
Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Therapist and Clinical Supervisor with the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy
Clinical Background:
I began my clinical career in 2002, working in university counselling services and charitable organisations before moving into NHS adult mental health services in 2006.
I later held a senior clinician role at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, working across community mental health and specialist psychotherapy services.
My work included structured assessment and therapy for adults with mood and anxiety disorders, providing psychological consultation within multidisciplinary teams, and supervision of trainee and qualified psychologists.
This experience has provided a strong foundation in assessment, formulation, and focused psychological intervention within adult services.
Psychological therapy approach:
As a Counselling Psychologist, I integrate cognitive, relational, and attachment-informed approaches within a coherent, structured framework.
My practice is primarily informed by Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), alongside integrative psychological approaches. Therapy focuses on:
Understanding patterns that maintain anxiety or low mood
Strengthening emotional regulation
Reducing self-critical thinking
Improving interpersonal confidence
Supporting behavioural and emotional change
Therapy is structured but not rigidly protocol-driven. While we may explore underlying patterns where helpful, the focus remains on present difficulties and practical steps toward improvement.
