About me

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Senior Practitioner in Psychotherapy, registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am also registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am recognised by the British Psychological Society as an Applied Psychology Practice Supervisor.

I have over 23 years' experience delivering psychological therapy in both NHS and private practice settings, including extensive work in secondary care adult mental health services. I work with adults experiencing a range of emotional and relational difficulties, providing structured, evidence-based psychological therapy.

Professional registrations and accreditations:

Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Senior Practitioner in Psychotherapy (BPS)
Applied Psychology Practice Supervisor (BPS)
Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Therapist and Clinical Supervisor with the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy
Accredited Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) Practitioner with the British Psychoanalytic Council

Clinical background:

I began my clinical career in 2002, initially working in university counselling services and charitable organisations, before moving into NHS adult mental health services in 2006. I later held a senior clinician role at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, where I led the Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) services within the Lewisham Integrated Psychological Therapies Team.

Within SLaM, I worked across psychiatric inpatient wards, Community Mental Health Teams, and integrated psychology and psychotherapy services. I provided clinical consultation to multidisciplinary colleagues and supervised and managed trainee and qualified clinical and counselling psychologists. This work involved managing complexity, risk, and long-standing mental health difficulties in secondary care settings.

Psychological therapy approach:

My work is grounded in psychological therapy and informed by a broad range of established psychological theories and evidence-based models. As a Counselling Psychologist, I draw on relational, psychodynamic, cognitive, and attachment-based frameworks to understand how emotional difficulties develop and are maintained in interpersonal contexts.

My clinical work is predominantly informed by Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT), and it integrates principles from compassion-focused and cognitive approaches where clinically appropriate. This enables me to work flexibly while maintaining a coherent, structured framework for assessment and intervention.

Therapy is collaborative, reflective, and change-focused. I work actively with clients to identify maintaining patterns, improve emotional regulation, and support meaningful psychological change, remaining responsive to individual clinical needs.
