About me
Dr Munisamy is a Consultant Haematologist at Jersey General Hospital, St Helier where he works within Jersey's public healthcare service alongside his private practice. He provides comprehensive care across all aspects of haematology, including haemato-oncology, clotting and bleeding disorders, thrombosis, and transfusion medicine.
He obtained his medical degree from the University of Cambridge and went on to complete postgraduate specialty training in haematology at King's College Hospital, London. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists, and maintains current membership of the British Society for Haematology and the European Haematology Association.
Prior to relocating to Jersey, he worked as a Consultant Haematologist in Kent. Alongside his clinical work there, he was actively involved in medical education and training, serving as a Clinical Lecturer at Kent and Medway Medical School and as Training Programme Director for Specialist Haematology Training across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. He was also actively involved in clinical research, serving as Principal Investigator for both a Phase 3 commercial interventional trial and a National Cancer Research Institute / Clinical Research Network Phase 2 trial, and as a sub-investigator in multiple additional Phase 2 and Phase 3 studies. He has presented and published at regional, national, and international level.
As he is based within the Jersey hospital service, Dr Munisamy is able to provide the full range of secondary care haematology interventions, including intravenous chemotherapy and blood product transfusions. Drawing on his experience in both NHS and private practice in the UK, he has also developed extensive professional networks and strong working relationships with specialist colleagues across leading centres. He works closely with teams in tertiary centres in Southampton and London to facilitate shared-care arrangements for investigations and treatments that are not available on-island, including bone marrow transplantation, novel immunotherapies, and cutting-edge biologic therapies. This collaborative approach helps ensure that patients in Jersey do not miss out on specialist expertise or advanced treatments because of the island setting, and receive the same standard and level of care as patients in the UK at every stage of their treatment journey.
Dr Munisamy believes strongly in delivering personalised, holistic care and in building collaborative relationships with patients and their families. In addition to managing the medical aspects of diagnosis and treatment, he recognises the importance of supporting patients emotionally and psychologically throughout their healthcare journey.
He also has a deep and personal connection to Jersey, as his wife is from the island. The people and landscape of Jersey have held a special place for him since his first visit. He now lives on the island with his wife and children and feels privileged to be able to contribute to the health and wellbeing of the Jersey community as both a doctor and a member of the community.
