About me

Mr Alrawi is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon with 25 years experience. Mr Alrawi’s clinical practice is exclusively dedicated to spinal surgery for patients of all ages experiencing problems in the neck or back. He is highly respected in the spinal community for his patient centred approach and superlative surgical results for his patients.

He listens respectfully, understands fully and creates individualised personalised care plans for each and every person he sees. His experience extends from traditional non-operative treatments to the most advanced and innovative technologies including minimally invasive and robotic spine surgery. He is particularly skilled in the most complex surgeries, including revision spinal surgery for degenerative wear and tear pathologies, when other surgeons have not achieved the right result for their patients the first time.

Mr Alrawi is currently working as a Spinal Consultant at the nationally acclaimed James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. He is the Spinal Trauma Lead, and has experience treating a range of people including elite athletes, senior citizens with delicate osteoporotic bones and hardworking professionals. In addition to complex revision spinal surgery, Mr Alrawi also performs surgery for tumours, trauma, and deformities of the spine.

Mr Alrawi has lectured internationally and published many peer-reviewed medical research articles. This experience and knowledge means he provides the most up to date opinions when consulting with his patients. Mr Alrawi’s research interests centre around rapid rehabilitation following spinal surgery for back and neck conditions. This knowledge means he can get his patients back to good function early after treatment.

He starts your consultation with a conversation about what it is that most affects you, and what it is you want to get back doing. His treatments have enabled elite athletes to get back to sport, young professionals to get back to work and senior citizens to get back to enjoying their families through an array of different treatment options. Treatments may include specialist physiotherapy services, specialist pain management options, injection therapies, and the most advanced surgical treatments for debilitating pains in the neck, back or limbs.

Mr Alrawi has a passion for improving clinical outcomes and is a governance lead for his Trust. He brings this passion to each and every one of his patients, and always ensures his patients get the healthcare they want, at a quality they deserve, in a time that they need. Mr Alwari has helped many patients in the past, and will be there for you in the future.
