About us
Dr. Lele, Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist qualified as a doctor in 1994. She has been a CAMHS Consultant for 15 years. Dr. Lele's current role in the NHS is in a CAMHS ADHD and Neurodevelopmental Service. She previously led an Adolescent CAMHS Service in West London.
Dr. Lele offers expertise in assessment and treatment of ADHD and assessment of mood and anxiety disorders in the context of ADHD, for children and young people.
Dr Lele has consistently received excellent feedback for her ability to build a rapport and trust with children and young people, and for working collaboratively with families and schools. She strives to identify difficulties early and is very mindful of the impact that a child's environment has on their mental health.
Dr Lele offers diagnostic assessments and provides recommendations for holistic treatment care plans. Treatment recommendations can include suitable talking therapies and where required, medication treatments. She conducts her consultations as face-to-face appointments and when appropriate, as virtual meetings. A detailed report with the assessment and recommendations is provided.
Dr Lele has special interest in assessments and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She offers diagnostic assessments and medication treatment for ADHD, for children aged 5 and above up to age 18. A general psychiatric assessment is offered during the initial consultation and this progresses to a full assessment of ADHD in subsequent consultations. Sometimes ADHD-like symptoms are part of a complex mix of other symptoms suggestive of anxiety or autism spectrum traits. If the diagnostic screening indicates a need for a full autism assessment, patients and parents can seek this at a suitable Neurodiversity assessment service. If diagnoses of depression, anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, post-traumatic stress, or generalised anxiety are identified during the initial assessment, the patient is sign-posted to seek therapy services. Highly complex and risky situations may need to be sign posted to the emergency services or NHS mental health services.
Dr Lele has experience in supporting patients during transitions from children's mental health services to adult services. She translates this into supporting students under her treatment for maintaining mental health stability during university transfers after A-level examinations.
Dr Lele speaks multiple languages fluently including English, Hindi, and Marathi. She has working knowledge of Urdu and comprehends Punjabi and Gujarati. Her work in the mental health sector in Mumbai, India between 1995 and 2002, and subsequently as an NHS Psychiatrist in West London, has afforded her the sensitivity and understanding required to provide high quality work in a transcultural context.
