About me

Mr Liddle is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Knee and Hip surgery. His NHS Practice is at St Mary’s and Charing Cross Hospitals in London; he practices privately at King Edward VII Hospital, St John and St Elizabeth's Hospital, the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s and the River View Private Unit at Charing Cross. He is Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at Imperial College and Honorary Associate Professor at University College London.

Mr Liddle graduated from Imperial in 2004, undertaking his orthopaedic training in the Imperial and Stanmore training schemes. After completing his DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford he was appointed as NIHR Clinical Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Orthopaedics at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. Following subspecialist (fellowship) training in complex and revision hip and knee replacement in Stanmore, and in all aspects of knee surgery at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, he was appointed to his current role in 2019.

Mr Liddle specialises in all aspects of knee surgery including arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, partial, primary and revision knee replacement, hip replacement, and the treatment of fractures around the hip and knee. He aims to translate the best of new technologies and evidence-based interventions from research to patient care to provide safer, more effective surgery.

Mr Liddle is a prominent figure in orthopaedic research, having published influential papers in all the major orthopaedic journals and in general medical journals including the Lancet. His research concerns the use of technology and big data to optimise outcomes and minimise complications after joint replacement. He provides expert review for the BMJ, the National Institute for Health Research and a number of orthopaedic journals, and is on the Editorial Board of the Bone and Joint Journal, the foremost orthopaedic publication in Europe. He has developed an international reputation for expertise in the field of partial knee replacement and has been invited to talk and write on the subject in the UK, Europe and the USA.
