Mr Khan is an endocrine & general surgeon who trained in London and Oxford. His NHS practice is based at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He specialises in parathyroid/thyroid, adrenal surgery and performs over 350 of these operations per year making him the highest volume endocrine surgeon in the UK.
He also has a specialist interest in hernia surgery (incl. inguinal, umbilical and femoral hernias) particularly day case surgery under local anaesthetic/block, this surgery is offered in the Day Case Unit at Nuffield Health The Manor Hospital, Oxford
Areas of interest
Parathyroid
I perform in excess of 200 parathyroids per year making me the highest volume surgeon for this operation. I have expertise where scans have identified a tumour and also where they have failed. I have wide experience in redo surgery where previous attempts to cure have failed.
Thyroid
Expertise in thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer including extensive lymph node dissections of the neck. I attend and help run the Thames Valley Thyroid Cancer MDT. I perform in excess of 100 thyroid operations per year with low risk/complications.
Adrenal
I specialise in keyhole surgery to remove adrenal glands and am one of the few in the UK performing this via the retroperitoneal (back) approach. I am one of the highest volume adrenal surgeons in the UK.
Hernia
I have trained in numerous specialist centres in hernia surgery with a specialist interest in local anaesthetic/block day surgery.
I work for numerous hernia charities and perform hernia repairs in many 3rd world countries.
