About me
Dr Deepan Vyas is a Consultant General Paediatrician with broad expertise in children's health. He provides high-quality care for a wide range of common childhood conditions, with particular clinical expertise in children's allergies. His practice combines thorough general paediatric assessment with specialist skills in managing allergic conditions such as food allergies, hayfever, asthma, eczema, gastrointestinal allergy, and allergic rhinitis.
Dr Vyas regularly sees children with common childhood presentations such as persistent cough, abdominal pain, constipation, gastro-oesophageal reflux, feeding difficulties, nutritional issues and rashes, offering thorough assessment and management guided by the latest clinical standards. Dr Vyas is passionate about delivering the highest standard of care. By combining his broad experience in paediatrics with specialist knowledge, he is able to offer individualised management plans that improve the quality of life for each child and their family.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr Vyas places great importance on creating a calm, supportive environment for both children and their families. He takes a child-centred approach, ensuring that children feel comfortable and engaged during consultations, while providing parents with clear explanations and thoughtful guidance. His approachable manner helps build trust and makes each visit a more positive experience, even for those who may be feeling anxious or unwell.
He read medicine at the University of Sheffield Medical School and graduated in 2002. His initial postgraduate training was in the West Midlands, and he moved to London to complete Higher Specialist Training in Paediatrics at leading centres including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, and Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital. Following completion of his paediatric training, Dr Vyas further specialised in Paediatric Allergy at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, before obtaining his substantive NHS Consultant appointment at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
In 2018, Dr Vyas was awarded a Master of Science degree in Advanced Paediatrics from University College London, completing his final thesis analysing anaphylaxis trends in the United Kingdom. His work was presented at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Conference.
He has a strong interest in medical education and is the Training Programme Director for Foundation Trainees at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also a Paediatric Advanced Life Support course instructor and regularly delivers talks on a wide range of paediatric and allergy-related topics. His educational sessions are well received, consistently attracting excellent feedback for their clarity, relevance, and engaging delivery.
Alongside developing local NHS services, Dr Vyas has played a key role in improving the provision of allergy care both regionally and nationally. He is currently involved with the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Working Group, helping to establish national service standards for high-quality allergy care. He has also contributed to national guidance on implementing peanut immunotherapy in the NHS and co-authored the largest national survey of paediatric allergy service provision in the UK.
