About me

Mr Kamran Saha is a Moorfields Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon.

He has triple specialisations in Cataract surgery, Retina diseases and Emergency Ophthalmology.


CATARACT SPECIALIST

Mr Saha is the recipient of a Clinical Excellence award by Moorfields Eye Hospital for his work in cataract surgery. He is currently head of High Efficiency Cataract Surgery and one of the consultant trainers on the prestigious Moorfields Cataract Fellowship program.
Additionally Mr Saha regularly recieves surgeons from around the world to observe and learn from his surgical techniques. He lectures extensively, publishes in medical journals, has authored book chapters and co-written a medical textbook.

He has been nominated for a Moorfields Prize for Excellence in Patient Care in cataract surgery. Due to his work, Mr Saha’s patients have donated sizeable amounts to Moorfields Eye Hospital.

His expertise in the field has meant he is regularly requested to advise multi-million pound companies on cataract surgery and surgical laser machines.

RETINA SPECIALIST

As a specialist Retina Consultant, Mr Saha developed the first emergency macular clinic in the history of Moorfields Eye Hospital. This has prevented hundreds of patients from losing their sight. He is currently leading a team to develop the model to span across London to ensure equal care around the capital.

His particular interest is in macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vein occlusions and central serous retinopathy (CSR).


EMERGENCY OPHTHALMOLOGY SPECIALIST

Moorfields Eye Hospital is one of the busiest eye emergency departments in the world. As a specialist Emergency Ophthalmology Consultant in this department, Mr Saha regularly treats a plethora of eye problems. From mild floaters and slight dry eyes to extensive infections and trauma.

He has worked with NHS Innovations in developing a novel product for dry eye symptoms. A current project is with Imperial College polymer scientists in developing a unique ophthalmic device to aide vision.


BACKGROUND

His undergraduate medical training was at The University of London with further postgraduate research at St Catherine’s College at The University of Oxford. He trained on the prestigious London Rotation before being appointed as a Moorfields Consultant.

Mr Saha lives in Surrey with his wife and two young children, who he adores. As a self-confessed workaholic, his two main loves are his work and his family.
