About me

I am a consultant cardiologist of 24years standing and work at St Thomas' Hospital, London and previously at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich. I am the clinical lead for cardiology in the Bexley area. I am a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and Fellow of the European College of Cardiology (FESC).I am accredited in General Internal Medicine and perform regular medical on-calls in a busy hospital. In addition to general cardiology, I have a special interest in Hypertension (European Specialist in Hypertension), cardiac CT angiography (US board certified), and cardiac MRi.
From a management perspective, I was the Lead cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. I was the Clinical Director of the SE London Cardiac Network between 2005-2010. I was a Regional Advisor to the Royal College of Physicians, and Regional Advisor for SE London to the British Cardiac Society.
From a research perspective, I am the founder and Director of the Cardiovascular Risk Institute, based at Woolwich. We undertake clinical pharmacological trials on a regular process. Most notable studies have included ASCOT (now deactivated), EUROPA, and IMPROVE IT. We have a close connection with primary care, enabling excellent primary care patient recruitment.
My private practice is based at Blackheath Hospital in SE London, and the Lister Hospital in Chelsea, London.
