About me

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working with people 18 years and over to help them manage and overcome their emotional and mental health difficulties. I worked in Cambridge, UK, for many years, providing both a face-to-face and online service, but now work exclusively online. Research shows that online therapy is as effective as in person therapy.

Seeking therapy was perhaps prompted by you starting to think about how to address some of the difficulties you may be experiencing. Life can be challenging and you may be reacting to a life situation such as work or relationship difficulties or you may have been struggling for sometime with the effects of trauma, OCD, anxiety, low self esteem. You may just feel anxious or depressed and do not know why.

In my capacity as a CBT therapist I will try to find a way to help you move forward. I will listen to your story, and try to understand the problems you are having. Together we will think about the changes you want to make, and work towards them using evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) protocols, strategies and coping mechanisms.

I enjoyed a previous career in Occupational therapy, working with people with physical and mental health problems. During this time, I came across CBT, which immediately struck a chord with me, so much so that I wanted to learn more and to become a therapist. I qualified in 2014 and worked as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist for a number of years in the NHS (in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire), and now work privately online. I have been privileged to see how CBT can help people to make changes and lead more fulfilling lives.

We are very complex beings and everyone has their own story and experiences. My approach is warm, empathetic, and non- judgemental, working with you to understand your individual beliefs and behaviours and navigating a way forward. This is in the context of evidence based CBT practices.

I incorporate Mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into my core CBT practice. I have experience of working with a wide range of problems and specialise in low self-esteem, anxiety conditions, PTSD and OCD. I have regular supervision in line with good practice guidelines, and attend training events to ensure that my knowledge is kept up to date.

I hold professional insurance, and practice within the codes of ethical and professional practice of the Health and Care Professional Council and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
