About me
Mr George Prezerakos is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon and Honorary Associate Professor in the Institute for Neurology, University College London.
His NHS practice is based at the National Hospital for Neurosurgery London, rated in the top three specialised hospitals in the world for 2022 and 2023.
He specialises exclusively in spinal pathologies
Mr Prezerakos works in partnership with his patients and addresses problems such as back, neck and sciatic pain to complex pathologies such as spinal tumours, fractures and deformity.
He trained in Neurosurgery in London and New York Weil- Cornell, sub specialising in spinal surgery by completing the prestigious Victor Horsley fellowship in Queen Square and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital
He was awarded the Inchape educational grant as well as the Pain Section prize by the American College of Neurosurgical Societies. The British Association of Spinal Surgeons awarded him the President’s travelling fellowship in 2016.

He has presented research in artificial disc spinal motion preservation at an international level and has published in tumour excision techniques and cervical deformity correction.
When surgery is required, he employs minimally invasive techniques such as tubular access keyhole surgery, motion preservation technologies, computer navigation and open approaches as dictated by each patient's clinical need.
Mr. Prezerakos is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons England. He is a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons, The British society of Neurosurgeons, The European Association of Neurosurgeons, International AO Spine and the North American Spinal Society.
Areas of interest
Back and neck pain; targeted spinal injections, slipped disc and sciatica; lumbar stenosis, spondylolisthesis and spinal stabilisation; cervical myelopathy and radiculopathy, osteoporotic spinal fractures and vertebroplasty; spinal trauma, minimally invasive surgery including tubular access and percutaneous techniques; intradural and metastatic tumours of the spine; artificial discs and spinal motion preservation; chiari and foramen magnum decompression; syringomyelia and spinal fluid pathologies as well as cervical deformity and cranio-cervical junction pathologies.
He has an expertise in treating patients with problems related to previous spinal operations- revisional surgery.
