About me

I trained in medicine at Hertford College, Oxford and in Orthopaedic Surgery in Oxford, Adelaide and Birmingham. I specialize in Hip Surgery, specifically hip replacements, hip resurfacing and revision hip surgery. I have particular expertise in the management of failed metal on metal hip replacements. I set up a research unit to study the reasons why they have caused so many problems. I've lectured on hip surgery all over the world and spend lots of my time working with scientists, engineers and manufacturers trying to improve the outcome of hip surgery.

I use the Mako Robotic Assistant, and the Optimized Postioning System in carefully selected cases. These techniques improve surgical precision and accuracy, particularly in patients who present with more challenging hip problems.
