About me

Qualifications: BM, MRCP (UK), FRCPCH, DM
I have been an NHS consultant since 1999 specialising in paediatric allergy and respiratory medicine. In addition, since 2022, I have also provided contracted NHS hospital clinics particularly for adult allergy at some hospitals in England and Wales. I have also had an independent private practice since 2000 specialising in diagnosing and managing general allergy disorders for all ages (i.e. adults as well as children).

I obtained my primary medical qualification (Bachelor of Medicine) from Southampton University Medical School and began training in paediatrics from 1985 onwards at several prestigious UK hospitals (including Southampton, Guys and St Thomas's, St George's Hospitals). Between 1993-97, I did clinical research at the renowned Dept of Allergy & Clinical Immunology, Imperial College, London and published several papers on asthma and allergy was awarded a DM (Doctor of Medicine- equivalent to a medical PhD) from Southampton University for my thesis based on my research there. During this period I ran regular clinics in allergy at the Royal Brompton Hospital for adults before returning to paediatrics to complete my higher specialist training in paediatric respiratory medicine. I have been a consultant at Colchester Hospital for 25 years now and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2001.

I have particular expertise in managing difficult asthma in children and am the co-lead lead for the East of England Children and Young Persons Asthma Clinical Network. I also specialise in assessing and managing all types of general allergic diseases in adults and children (including urticaria and anaphylaxis, suspected food, respiratory or insect and venom allergies and allergic rhinitis)
