About me

Hi, I'm Lindsey, DuQueno a highly experienced clinical psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council. I work with adolescents (13+) and adults, offering one-to-one assessment and psychotherapy (talking therapy) to help develop your understanding of your distress and to help you find ways to improve your psychological wellbeing and quality of life.

My training and experience covers a broad range of psychological difficulties, with specific expertise in childhood trauma, where people have been struggling with re-experiencing their trauma (in the form of, for example flashbacks or nightmares) or with the secondary effects of trauma such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, self esteem, self identity difficulties, substance misuse, self harm and other self-defeating patterns of behaviour.

I aim to provide a safe space where we work together, with curiosity and warmth, to make sense of the stuckness and consider possible next steps.

I work with people feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious or low. Self-doubts, self-criticisms, worries. People who might identify with the terms perfectionist, procrastinator or people pleaser, all 3 even. Maybe you're leaning on those unhealthy coping strategies like overworking all too often. You might have relationship difficulties such as trust issues or taking rejection hard. You may feel like you're treading on eggshells, questioning "is it them or me?" Wondering if it could be past experiences affecting you or you might be unsure- maybe thinking "it wasn't that bad surely?" Do you want to know why you feel like this and how to find peace and contentment without feeling that the past is holding you back? These types of struggles are often linked to painful or lacking early experiences. And that might be worth taking a look at.

I help people understand and handle their distress and move from surviving to thriving. I prefer non-medical terms for the human experience of emotional pain and suffering. The most important question being "what happened to you?", rather than "what's wrong with you?". I believe humans are incredible at adapting to adversity. Humans don't break, we just get stuck. And people can feel helpless and despairing, unsure whether things can ever be different for them. And therapy aims to help you get unstuck bit by bit. I am always honoured by people putting their trust in me, and allowing me to join in their journey and walk by their side for a time, as together we look to find ways to overcome the problems. It is incredibly rewarding to see my clients grow and develop, moving towards living the life they want to live.

The benefits of my clinical psychology training and learning through my career are that I've developed a broad knowledge of, and specialised skills in several therapy approaches. This enables me to flexibly integrate these approaches and tailor an individualised therapy for each unique person I see. The therapeutic relationship and processes are central to the therapeutic journey, and I place focus on this in a transparent way. Individual therapy is integrative, and I often draw upon evidence-based approaches, mainly 3rd wave CBTs, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT informed), and I can offer EMDR which can be helpful to many.

I offer individual therapy and clinical supervision, face to face and online. Face to face is in a comfortable therapy room in Huddersfield, with free parking, 10 minutes drive off J24 of the M62. Easily accessible from Huddersfield town centre, under 10 minute taxi or one short bus ride away.
