About me
I have practiced as an Interventional Cardiologist based at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) for the last 23 years. I provide an attentive and evidence based clinical service to my patients. I am a General Cardiologist and am therefore experienced in the assessment of all cardiac symptoms including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizzy spells and blackouts. I undertake non-invasive heart testing including echocardiography and perform a variety of minimally invasive cardiac investigations and treatments including coronary angiography. As the lead Clinician for Structural Heart Disease Intervention at UHW I lead the tertiary service that provides specialist and contemporary percutaneous treatments for patients with valvular and congenital heart disease in South-East Wales.
I am Honorary Professor at Cardiff University and my clinical work is complemented by my involvement with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). I am Chair of the Medical Technology Advisory Committee and therefore provide national leadership in the identification and promotion of innovative technologies into clinical practice. I am also Chair of Health Technology Wales which is responsible for promoting the uptake of novel medical technologies where evidence shows that there are benefits to patients.
