About me
Dr Chandrakumar is a UK-trained Consultant Dermatologist. Her NHS work is based at Ashford & St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust in Chertsey, where she has held a substantive post since 2013.
Dr Chandrakumar grew up in Kent and studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, where she obtained a 1st class BA degree and a medical degree. She trained in Dermatology in London at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and University College Hospital. She received her Completion Certificate of Training (CCT) in Dermatology in 2012. Dr Chandrakumar is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London.
In her current NHS post at Ashford & St Peter's NHS Trust, she spent five years as Head of Department and in September 2023, she won the Trust 'Inspirational Leader' Award. Dr Chandrakumar has previously taken on the roles of Skin Cancer lead as well as Paediatric dermatology lead. She has contributed to Medicine at a Glance (4th edition) and Oxford Desk Reference: Acute Dermatology. She was previously a reviewer for the Oxford Medical Case Reports journal.
In addition to her current clinical work, Dr Chandrakumar also acts as an appraiser for her Trust and is a clinical supervisor for foundation-year doctors. She has sat on the interview panels for junior medical doctors and Consultant Dermatologists.
Dr Chandrakumar sees all medical dermatology, skin lesions and skin cancer. She can undertake minor procedures in dermatology including skin lesion excision, curettage, punch biopsies, and performs cryotherapy.
