About me

Dr Gary Backlund Chiropractor, Canary Wharf

Dr Gary Backlund is a Canary Wharf based chiropractor who specialises in treating desk and office workers with neck pain, back pain, poor posture, and sciatica. With over 26 years' experience (20 of them in Canary Wharf) he has treated thousands of professionals whose pain comes from long hours at a desk, screen-heavy work, and sedentary routines.

If you're spending your day hunched over a laptop, commuting with a heavy bag, or sitting through back-to-back meetings, Gary understands exactly what's driving your pain, because it's the patient he sees most.

Qualifications & Registration
- M.Tech Chiro - a six-year Master's degree in Chiropractic, South Africa (1999)
- Registered member of the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), the UK's regulatory body for chiropractors
- Maintains close working relationships with local GPs and orthopaedic consultants, several of whom are his own patients
- Regularly attends clinical education events as both participant and lecturer, keeping his practice current with the latest research and treatment techniques

What Gary Treats

Core specialisms:
- Neck pain and stiffness

How He Treats It

Gary draws on a broad toolkit spanning chiropractic, osteopathic, and physiotherapy techniques, tailored to each patient:

- Spinal and joint manipulation (Diversified technique)
- Deep tissue massage
- Dry needling
- SOT (Sacral Occipital Technique)
- Postural correction and rehabilitation
- Exercise, movement, and lifestyle advice to keep you out of pain long-term, not just in the short term

His Approach

"My considerable experience as a chiropractor has taught me two things: remain current with the latest advances in back care, and take the time to listen and understand the unique needs of each patient."

Gary's goal isn't just symptom relief it's getting to the root cause of pain and building a plan (posture, rehab, exercise, diet) that keeps you well, not just pain-free for a week.

Outside the Clinic

When he's not treating patients, Gary practises what he preaches: he's a keen CrossFit athlete and bodyweight callisthenics enthusiast. He also reads, travels, and hikes most happily in the Lake District.
