About me

Dr Bowler qualified with distinction in pathology, medicine and surgery from St. Thomas's Hospital Medical School in 1984, subsequently training in general medicine in London and in general neurology at Atkinson Morley's Hospital (now part of St. George's) with further training in general neurology, stroke and dementia at Charing Cross Hospital where he obtained his MD investigating changes in brain blood flow in stroke.

A 3-year fellowship in London, Ontario at the University of Western Ontario followed where he did further research in stroke and dementia before returning to Charing Cross Hospital.

He was appointed Consultant Neurologist at the North Middlesex and Royal Free Hospitals in 1998 where he practices general neurology in addition to running a specialised clinic in stroke.

He has also taken part in the rota covering the Hyperacute Stroke Unit at University College London Hospital and is now a member of the multidisciplinary team looking after patients with vascular malformations etc. at the National Hospital at Queen Square.

Dr. Bowler has over 40 publications on stroke and vascular cognitive impairment and has co-authored one book on vascular cognitive impairment
