About me
Vannakum and Welcome!
I am Umaa Thampu MBACP (Accred), an experienced Gestalt therapist, author, educator, and group facilitator. I offer private therapy for individuals and couples, facilitate groups, and deliver presentations.
Since 2012, I have worked in diverse professional settings, dedicated to enhancing well-being, fostering connection, and cultivating meaning. I provide a space to explore creativity and connect with your internal wisdom, strengthening the mind-body connection and addressing barriers to personal growth.
My approach integrates Gestalt concepts, EMDR, anti-oppressive practice, neurodiversity-affirming care, and trauma-informed principles. I work with individuals on a wide range of topics, including anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and life transitions, and I have particular experience supporting clients exploring identity, culture, race, gender, and sexuality.
I am an LGBTQ+ affirming practitioner and welcome clients from all backgrounds, including those navigating the effects of racism and discrimination in their daily lives.
In addition to therapy, I conduct seminars for organisations and therapeutic spaces, including topics from my chapter, "The Power of A Name," featured in the BAATN Anthology, Therapy in Colour (April 2023).
I am committed to creating inclusive spaces for healing and growth, emphasising understanding, collaboration, and respect for diverse experiences.
As part of my professional practice, I adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics, am currently a member of BAATN, and engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development.
Whether you're seeking personal growth, navigating relationship challenges, or exploring group dynamics, I am here to support your journey.
