About me

Am is an experienced Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 13years of experience working in Adult Mental Health Services in the NHS and private practice. He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist and a full member of the Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) within the British Psychological Society. Am has worked within Secondary and Primary Care settings in the NHS with clients that have a wide range of moderate to severe mental health difficulties such as anxiety disorders (phobias, panic disorder, OCD, social anxiety, health anxiety, GAD, PTSD), work related stress, bereavement, depression, dissociative disorders, personality disorders and the complex comorbidity of such difficulties. In addition, he has a special interest in helping people with Neuropsychological difficulties as a result of traumatic brain injury (TBI) that stems from his first class honours degree in Psychology and Neuroscience and his doctoral research. Am has also worked within the private sector with case managed clients that have sustained a TBI.

Prior to qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, Am worked in a multinational company as a project manager and research scientist therefore, understands how work related stress can impact on an individual’s ability to function and the unintended consequences.

Am offers assessment, formulation and interventions of mental health/neuropsychological difficulties. The mental health interventions are based on empirically proven approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness based dialectic behavioral therapy skills. Other approaches include Brief Solution Focused Therapy and CBT. For more entrenched difficulties that may involve childhood trauma Am uses Schema Therapy or integrative approaches. Specific to brain injury Am has also experience of compensatory rehabilitation and utilizing empirically proven computer based cognitive rehabilitation training to aid in the recovery of information processing after TBI.

Since qualification Am has, obtained chartered status with the BPS, trained as an EMDR Practitioner and undertaken specialist training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for trauma. He is a qualified Clinical Supervisor and has supervised psychologists and clinical psychologists in training.
