Dr Prashanth Raju is Cardiology Lead and an experienced intervention cardiologist at Kettering General Hospital.
Dr Raju has been involved in innovative service developments and was one of the first in the country to use the pioneering shockwave lithotripsy heart procedure in treating complex calcified coronary disease. In recognition of his services, he has been presented with the Clinical Excellence Awards by the Kettering NHS Trust. He has been featured in national ITV and BBC Radio Northampton interviews for these new innovative approaches in treating heart conditions. His work also appeared in Northamptonshire Telegraph Newspaper. The Daily mail published an article about one of Dr Raju's patient's experience in the column titled �Me and My operation�.
Dr Raju introduced Refractory Angina Service in Northamptonshire (coronary sinus occluder device treatment in the heart) which has made huge difference in quality of life for these angina patients. This was featured in BBC Northamptonshire (09 Aug 2024) as � Heart device gives angina patient new lease of life� and in Northamptonshire Telegraph (12 Aug 2024) as �New heart procedure for Northants at Kettering General Hospital gives hope for severe angina�.
Education & Training: He obtained his postgraduate qualification from Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), London in 2006. He is dual accredited in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. His specialist postgraduate training in cardiology was undertaken at Grantham, Derby, Glenfield and Lincoln Hospitals. Dr Raju undertook high volume coronary intervention during his Interventional Fellowship at highly renowned centre, Kettering General Hospital.
