About me

I’m a fully accredited therapeutic counsellor, dually qualified to work with adults and children. I provide a safe, private place where you can explore the issues that are troubling you, make sense of them and find a way forward.

I offer online long term counselling as well as short term work of 6 to 12 sessions.

I’m experienced in counselling adults of all ages, young people and children (from age 3 up) for support with a range of issues (scroll down for examples). I tailor my approach to suit you:

My foundation training is in using a variety of ‘talking’ approaches, so I've called my practice “Talking Journeys”. I offer the opportunity to walk together, talk together and explore together in the secure and confidential environment of the counselling session.
However, for those struggling to put things into words or who want the opportunity to use creativity, I work with a sand tray, miniatures, stones, clay, and other art materials. I have adapted this approach for working online.

Children and young people require specialist approaches and you will find more information about this on my website (www.talkingjourneys.co.uk).

Anxiety and depression can affect any of us. We may be in a dark place of hopelessness and desperation with little, if any, appetite for work, relationships or life. The future may seem bleak and life itself may feel too painful to carry on with. We may be in a turmoil of terrifying or worrying thoughts, with uncomfortable physical symptoms that affect our ability to function and concentrate. Sometimes there’s a mix of both anxiety and depression and we find that life is spinning out of our reach and seemingly out of control.

What often helps most is the warm and accepting presence I offer, as someone who is alongside you in your difficulties and searching. I can reflect with you on what matters most to you, making sense of your experiences past and present and exploring ways of coping for the future.

Using the arts can be very helpful for expressing feelings that are overwhelming and scary, or if you are feeling numb and unsure what is going on for you.

I provide this approach as an additional choice for you. The choice will always lie with you and what you feel will be best to support you.

Difficulties and conflict between family members can feel impossible to manage. Carefully devised therapeutic play sessions can rebuild confidence and closeness. I'm also training in Video interaction Guidance to help build on relationship strengths and find solutions to these difficult issues. See my article on this approach: http://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/counsellor-articles/video-interaction-guidance-to-support-parent-child-relationships.

With my nursing background, I’m familiar with medical details and I have experience in counselling those with poor health and disabilities. Regrettably, at present, I cannot provide wheelchair access. Video calls provide a really effective, accessible way of getting the support you need.

I also have a particular concern for you if you are a carer and need to find space for your own thoughts, feelings, needs and life.

It’s really important to find the right counsellor so we have an initial consultation session first to decide what you require and you have the chance to ask any questions you have about counselling.
