About me
Mr Chethan Jayadev is a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, where he leads the knee preservation service, and a founding partner of Grosvenor Orthopaedic Partners. He consults privately at Spire Bushey Hospital, King Edward VII's Hospital, Princess Grace Hospital, and 14 Devonshire Street.
His practice covers the full spectrum of knee surgery: cartilage surgery and regeneration, meniscal surgery including repair and transplantation, patellofemoral instability and realignment, osteotomy around the knee, sports knee injuries including ACL and multi-ligament reconstruction, partial and total knee replacement, and complex revision knee replacement. Non-operative treatments, including advanced injection therapies, are an important part of his practice for patients where surgery is not the right path.
Two areas of particular focus are knee preservation and kinematic alignment in total knee replacement. He offers the full range of surgical options for patients seeking to restore the knee and prevent or delay joint replacement surgery. In total knee replacement, he uses a kinematic alignment approach, tailoring implant positioning to each patient's individual anatomy rather than applying a standardised technique. He also offers robotic-assisted knee replacement at selected sites, an approach that shares the same patient-specific philosophy.
His commitment in every case is to precision and personalisation.
Mr Jayadev read medicine at Oxford University (Magdalen College) and gained higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Royal London Hospital Programme. He returned to Oxford to complete a DPhil examining the biology of knee osteoarthritis. He subsequently completed three specialist fellowships in knee surgery at Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland, Australia, the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. He is well-published in peer-reviewed journals, has authored several book chapters, and lectures regularly on national orthopaedic courses. He is a member of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), and the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), and practises in line with NICE, GIRFT, and BASK clinical guidance.
