About me
Central to Dr Monica Charalambides' approach is compassion and empathy for a client’s difficulties. Working collaboratively alongside an individual to understand, process, accept and progress in whatever challenges they face is an integral component of her therapy.
Dr Charalambides is a highly specialist clinical psychologist who trained at King’s College London (KCL). She has experience of providing psychological therapy in a range of National Specialist and local NHS settings, as well as the private healthcare domain. She has expertise with individuals having unusual experiences along the psychosis spectrum and complex presentations.
Dr Charalambides works primarily using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework. She draws on third-wave models such as Mindfulness Based CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as systemic practices. She has an integrative style that allows therapy to be tailored to the individual and has more recently broadened her therapeutic range to include schema therapy informed approaches and EMDR.
Dr Charalambides is experienced at treating a wide variety of psychological difficulties with varying degrees of severity. These include depression, stress, anxiety, panic, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma related problems, self-esteem issues, anger, interpersonal difficulties, unusual or psychotic experiences and bipolar affective disorder.
