About me
Dr Sophie McGrath is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden Hospital, specialising in Breast Cancer and Acute Oncology. She studied medicine and undertook her Oncology training in London. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Surrey in 2015, researching biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis and treatment response in ovarian cancer.
Dr McGrath has worked as a Consultant at The Royal Marsden and Kingston Hospitals since February 2017, providing compassionate, patient-centred clinical care, to complement her broad experience of chemotherapy, hormonal and targeted therapy, as well as immunotherapy prescribing.
Her additional experience as an Acute Oncologist provides a wealth of knowledge around the management of side-effects due to treatment. She has played a pivotal role in the development of the Acute Oncology Service at the Sutton site since 2017.
Dr McGrath is Principle and Sub-Investigator for numerous breast cancer clinical trials, and has particular research interests in digital technology to promote patient activation and engagement in early breast cancer, as well as acute symptom monitoring and management.
She is a member of The Royal Marsden’s Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, Acute Oncology Group, and Sepsis Steering Committee.
