About me

Dr Monica Berntsen is a highly experienced Consultant Psychologist, Neuropsychologist and Neuroscientist. She provides expert assessments for and treatments for individuals over the age of 5 years old for ADHD, ASD and psychiatric problems.

She provides psychological therapies, often virtual, for children and adults, using modalities and approaches to suit individual needs. Her approach is integrative, solution focused and individually targeted. She use approaches such as CBT and mindfulness for shorter-term work for more specific difficulties, and psychodynamic based approaches for attachment and trauma, in longer term work.

For young children (below the age of 9), direct psychological therapy is sometimes difficult to engage with due to social and cognitive development, and therefore focusing on people around the child can be more impactful.

She has worked for CAMHS neurodevelopmental service, adult inpatient rehabilitation and recovery services focusing on EUPD, complex trauma and psychotic disorders, and private practice working with individual of all ages and with a broad range of challenges.

She also provides specialist neuroscience based treatments for the consequences of stroke, traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative disorders using brain stimulation (TMS and tACS), quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) and EEG Neurofeedback.

Note that I have a wait to start therapy for adults of about 4 months. You are more than welcome to contact me, but note that this will be to go on my waiting list. I would encourage adults to continue looking for therapists in the meantime. For children the waiting list is 1 months at present.
