About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist working with both children and adults from my base in Ham green (West Bristol), which is just off the motorway, junction 30 at Gordano services. I also provide online sessions (or a combination).
Further details are available on my website www.marianneroberts.com
My child and family work is undertaken as an associate of Bristol Child Psychology Service (www.bristolchildpsychologypractice.co.uk). I treat a wide range of mental health difficulties and presentations, offering a combination of individual work, family sessions, parenting advice and liaison with schools and other agencies.
I also accept adult referrals. I treat a wide range of mental health conditions and presentations, with particular experience of working with physical health conditions and their impact on mental health. I have a special interest in providing therapy to address adult relationship difficulties.
I have worked within Psychology and mental health for 20 years. Before the final stage of my clinical training I worked within a mental health charity supporting adults recovering from mental illness; as a Manager of a Carers service within adult mental health; as a Research Assistant with children and young people and an Assistant Psychologist within adult Pain Management and Chronic Fatigue. I did my doctoral research in chronic pain (Fibromyalgia). Clinical training involved CAMHS and then specialist paediatric placements.
Since qualifying I have worked with children and families at the Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital (including cardiac, renal & rheumatology) and community outpatient NHS services specialising in loss and bereavement. I have supervised and mentored Clinical Psychology Trainees, Psychology Masters students and have taught on the Clinical Psychology doctoral programme at the University of Bath.
I understand it is daunting looking for therapy. Rest assured you will be met with warmth, empathy and genuine respect for the courage it takes to set this up. I go at my clients' pace, aiming to gradually build a better situation for you/your child.
