About me

I qualified in Medicine & Surgery at the University of Birmingham in 2000. I completed my house officer training at University Hospital Birmingham before returning to South Wales for my basic surgical training. During this time, I trained in Wales and the South West region before undertaking my higher surgical training on the ‘All Wales’ Trauma & Orthopaedic programme. Whilst a specialist registrar I completed a Master’s degree in Trauma Surgery at Swansea University.

After completing my higher surgical training, I gained a further year of specialised experience in lower limb arthroplasty (joint replacement) as a fellow at North Shore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.

I was appointed as a Consultant at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in 2013.

My clinical interest is lower limb surgery, primarily hip and knee replacement. I also perform arthroscopic or ‘key hole’ surgery of the knee, but not ligament reconstruction surgery. I am an advocate of patient related outcome data and how this can improve our techniques to ensure the best function, longevity and rapid recovery from surgery as possible.
