About me
I am currently offering face-to-face counselling sessions, as well as online video link sessions via Zoom. COVID-19 and the forced isolation we have all experienced over the last 2 years has created heightened levels of anxiety for many people. If you are struggling with your mental health and need someone to talk to, please get in touch.
I use a psychodynamic approach, which is about exploring how you interact with people and how your patterns of behaviour have developed in response to your life experiences and key relationships. You may have a specific aim for the therapy but beyond this, the purpose for me is to try to help you understand yourself better and to like yourself better. Being more aware of aspects of yourself or your behaviour that you don't like will allow you to reflect on how or why this might be the case and can lead to change or acceptance. For example, depression can sometimes be about unconscious deep-rooted feelings of anger or frustration that were originally a response to someone else. Over time, these strong feelings have been turned inwards on yourself.
I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy (with Distinction) from Birkbeck College, University of London, gained after 3 years of professionally accredited training. I have worked for several years as a Student Counsellor at King’s College London, where I saw a diverse range of people and problems. I have also worked in the NHS at a specialist psychotherapy service. More recently, I ran a counselling service in a Drama School alongside my busy private practice. I am an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
