About me

I am a genuine and compassionate psychologist offering discreet therapy to individuals (adults only). I established my private practice, Darlington Therapy, in 2012 and offer a professional psychology service based in the heart of Darlington town centre.

My aim is to provide a highly specialised therapy service that is both affordable and flexible and provides early improvement in functioning and wellbeing, while ensuring long- term results. The therapeutic relationship forms the foundation for the work and we will collaboratively identify and work towards your goals for therapy. The way I work is often suited to those who've had counselling or therapy before, but who feel that they would like to work at a deeper level and understand their motivations, feelings and behaviour. This often means looking at early experiences in order to understand how these shape us and may be impacting on our live's today. Together we'll look at developing new and more helpful patterns of relating to yourself and others to improve your relationships and wellbeing.

I'm registered with the Health and care professions council (HCPC), the UK's only regulatory body for healthcare practitioners and I'm also a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT).

I have over 20 years' experience working therapeutically with individuals' both in the National Health Service, private services through third party insurers, employee assistance programmes and solicitors and also take on individuals self funding and specialise in the treatment of adult complex mental health, which includes chronic or treatment- resistant depression and anxiety, personality issues, trauma and loss. I work primarily with adults and couples but also offer services for children and young people and families, students and colleagues.

In my experience there are many factors which can impact our mental health and everyone will experience emotional distress at some time in their life. At times, we can all benefit from a private and safe space and some genuine help and support to help us reconnect with our internal strengths and develop new strategies to navigate difficult times. I encourage you to visit my website to see how I can help. I'm also happy to have an informal telephone conversation prior to meeting if that is right for you.
