About me
Dr. Sancy Low is a comprehensive ophthalmologist, cataract and refractive surgeon who performs more than 500 cataract (lens replacement) and laser surgery procedures per year. She offers premium toric intraocular lens implants and uses state-of-the art laser vision correction technology (SMILE and Presbyond) to help you to achieve spectacle and contact lens independence.
Dr. Low is also a glaucoma specialist with a PhD in molecular genetics. She runs a very family friendly practice and understands the importance of your visual concerns. You will receive personalised care, her extensive ophthalmology and medical knowledge will help you to manage your vision and health, and reduce any related anxieties. Your friends and family would be happy to be introduced to her expert care.
Dr Low is a keen educator and is one of the lead clinicians for optometrists in South East London that provide care for minor eye conditions in the community. She is passionate about reducing the impact of sight loss through education programmes, for patients, optometrists, medical students, and junior doctors.
She is a peer reviewer for medical publications including Molecular Vision, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Eye and Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science. She has written 3 medical textbook chapters, and published over 20 papers in Ophthalmology. In 2020, she completed a landmark paper from her PhD, identifying the first gene known to cause primary angle closure glaucoma, a condition that is treatable by laser or cataract surgery if detected early.
