About us

Mr McMahon graduated with Merit from the University of Leicester Medical School and went on to train in Vascular Surgery in the East Midlands. He undertook research into carotid artery disease and was awarded his MD from the University of Leicester in 2011 as well as twice being awarded the prestigious Sol Cohen (Founder’s Prize) by the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland for his work. He was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2012.

After completing his surgical training in the UK, Mr McMahon undertook post-certification training in advanced open and endovascular techniques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

As a consultant Vascular Surgeon at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, he has driven the minimally invasive treatment if complex aortic aneurysms and is the Clinical Director of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland National Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme (NAAASP). He performed the first percutaneous endovascular aneurysm repair in Leicester. He also has expertise in the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins.

He maintains a keen interest in the education of tomorrow's specialists and is the Deputy Senior Undergraduate Lead for the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust; he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester.
