About me
Will works as a consultant surgeon at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester as well as running a private practice at the Chichester Nuffield Hospital.
He offers a friendly and personalised service ensuring that his patients are at the centre of the decisions made. He will offer an honest opinion on suitability for surgery, ensuring that patient wellbeing and patient choice are considered at all times.
Will graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1999. He continued his surgical training in the West Midlands, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010. He has had additional training through fellowships at world renowned departments in Taunton and Sydney, Australia.
He has been a consultant in Chichester since 2013. His main area of expertise is in laparoscopic upper GI and hernia surgery. Within the NHS he is one of the busiest Bariatric surgeons and sits on the Patient Safety Committee of the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society.
Will's private practice focuses on the General Surgery side of his surgical practice, in particular gallstone disease, hiatus hernias/reflux and abdominal wall hernias.
Outside of his clinical work, Will has an interest in surgical safety an is the Deputy Programme Director for CORESS, an independent charity that promotes safety in surgical practice nationally.
Will also has a career interest in surgical education. He has previously been the Surgical College Tutor at St Richard's Hospital and a Sub-dean of Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He is currently the Training Programme Director for General Surgery in Kent, Surrey and Sussex, being responsible for the training of surgical registrars in the region. As an extension to this role, he sits on the Surgical Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Royal College of Surgeons which advises on educational matters nationally and is an examiner for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons examinations.
