About me
My name is Phil and I am a Clinical Psychologist and fully accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. During my 15 years in the NHS and private practice I have worked with individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties, including various anxiety difficulties and depression. In my current NHS role I work in a health psychology setting, supporting people to positively manage and adjust to their long term health conditions, such as diabetes and surviving a stroke.
I trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches whilst completing my doctorate; however, I work predominantly from a cognitive behavioural model. I also have a keen interest in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness approaches, and use these ideas to enhance my work when appropriate, whilst being guided by the best available evidence base. Working with people from all walks of life is hugely rewarding and it is important to me that I provide a tailored and collaborative service suited to each individual.
I am passionate about helping people understand and work through their difficulties so they can live their best possible life. I offer a warm, friendly and compassionate approach and aim to create a non-judgemental, safe space where you can explore challenges and move forward.
