About me
My name is Phil and I am a Clinical Psychologist and fully accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. During my 15 years in the NHS and private practice I have worked with individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties, including various anxiety difficulties and depression. In my current NHS role, I focus on supporting the psychological wellbeing of healthcare workers in a hospital setting. Previously, I worked in health psychology, helping people positively manage and adjust to long-term health conditions such as diabetes and stroke recovery.
I trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches whilst completing my doctorate; however, I work predominantly from a cognitive behavioural model. I also have a keen interest in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness approaches, and use these ideas to enhance my work when appropriate, whilst being guided by the best available evidence base.
I am passionate about helping people understand and work through their difficulties so they can live a fulfilling and meaningful life. I offer a warm, friendly and compassionate approach and aim to create a non-judgemental, safe space where you can explore challenges and move forward.
