About me
Qualifications:
BA (Hons) Psychology with English - First Class Honours
MSc Research Methods in Psychology
D.Clin. Psychol Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2009 from the University of Liverpool and have since worked in both NHS and private settings.
I specialise in working with adults. I have extensive experience in providing psychological assessment and treatment for a range of mental health difficulties, including generalised anxiety, health anxiety, panic, social phobia, depression and stress related issues.
I also have particular expertise in the area of Clinical Health Psychology. In my NHS role, I am currently a Principal Clinical Psychologist working in a large hospital trust, providing specialist intervention when psychological difficulties are related to physical health problems. Often emotional difficulties can arise following a new diagnosis of a condition, appearance and bodily changes following surgery and/or treatment, or when managing a chronic, ongoing health condition. I can also provide support and intervention when making decisions about whether to undergo a particular form of surgery or treatment.
I have particular expertise in the psychological effects of cancer related issues.
I draw on a range of psychological models to inform my practice and will tailor these to suit the individual. I primarily draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
