About me
Mr Sasindran Ramar is a leading robotic surgeon with over 30 years of surgical experience and a proven track record in robotic upper gastrointestinal (GI), metabolic, and bariatric surgery.
Based at King's College Hospital, he is nationally recognised for his expertise in advanced robotic bariatric procedures, including robotic gastric bypass (including mini gastric bypass), robotic sleeve gastrectomy, robotic revision bariatric surgery, and robotic gastric band surgery.
Mr Ramar also performs a wide range of advanced robotic general surgical procedures, including:
Robotic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal)
Robotic hernia repair
Robotic abdominal wall reconstruction
Robotic anti-reflux surgery
With more than 450 robotic procedures performed and an average of 20 robotic surgeries per month, Mr Ramar is recognised for his excellent safety record and consistently strong surgical outcomes.
Recent advancements in robotic technology now allow single-port robotic surgery, which is efficient, safe, and offers excellent cosmetic results. These procedures are performed through a single small incision within the umbilicus (belly button), reducing visible scarring and supporting faster recovery.
For patients with gallbladder disease, surgery using robotic keyhole techniques can be carried out efficiently and is offered according to clinical urgency and patient need.
The procedures Mr Ramar performs are:
Robotic Single-port cholecystectomy
Robotic single-port hernia surgery
 Robotic gastric bypass
 Robotic sleeve gastrectomy
 Robotic Revision bariatric surgery
He also performs advanced robotic general surgical procedures such as:
 Robotic cholecystectomy
 Robotic inguinal hernia repair
 Robotic incisional hernia repair
 Robotic abdominal wall reconstruction
 Robotic anti-reflux surgery
 Robotic Umbilical /Ventral hernia repair
Robotic hernia repair with special biological mesh.
 Robotic URGENT gallbladder removal
 Robotic appendicectomy
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Ramar is an honorary senior lecturer at King's College London and a dedicated educator of surgical trainees. He is also an active researcher in robotic and metabolic surgery, with numerous presentations at national and international conferences including Clinical Robotic Surgery Association, British Obesity Metabolic Surgery Society, and UK Robotic HPB forums.
He is also an active researcher in robotic and metabolic surgery, with numerous presentations at national and international conferences including Clinical Robotic Surgery Association CRSA, British Obesity Metabolic Surgery Society BOMSS, Society of robotic Surgery, AUGIS UK and UK Robotic HPB forums.
