As a Qualified (1999) Registered and Accredited (2004) Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I have provided psychological/mental health support to individuals and couples who have experienced trauma, life crises, loss, abuse, identity issues and/or relationship difficulties.
I have worked as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist within the NHS, Prison Services, Community Counselling/Psychotherapy Organisations, Rape/Sexual Abuse Centres, the Department for Education as well as in Private Practice.
My experience within these very diverse fields has included working with people from different social/cultural/racial backgrounds.
My clients presented various symptoms such as anxiety, depression, intrusive/disordered thoughts, grief, anger and often behaviors such as misusing of alcohol/drugs, self-harming, or obsessional patterns.
Is broadly Humanistic and Integrative, influenced by Person-Centred and Psychodynamic perspectives.
Making Contact – What to expect
Making the first step can be quiet daunting. However, our initial telephone contact is usually simple and brief lasting about 10 mins.
This will allow us to discuss briefly why you are thinking about coming to therapy. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions.
Following this, I will then offer you an initial consultation, whereby you can experience what it may be like to work with me. This also helps me to think about whether I am the right person to support you in the way that is best for you. If appropriate we can then discuss our working contract.
