About me

I am an accredited eclectic, counsellor, psychotherapist and adviser of children, young people (CYP) and their families which includes 15 years prior experience of working directly with CYP for the Education Authority within school settings.
At present I work for Barnardos NI Specialist School Counselling Service as a counsellor of CYP in their respective school which is enhancing my practice further to accommodate the ever increasing and varied pressures on CYP in today's fast paced society.
I specialise in working with CYP who have Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers, Special Educational Needs and Adverse Behavioural Needs.
I have my own unique model of practice, which includes psycho education and neuroscience and offer bespoke counselling and tailored interventions for each client in a warm, nurturing environment. I believe in a wrap around approach whereby I work closely with the family and school as well as the CYP to give them the best opportunity to move overcome and move forward.
Working with CYP within school settings has afforded me a unique insight and knowledge into the challenges they face within this environment.
My robust knowledge of the school system allows me to add an extra dynamic to to my counselling practice. I can liaise directly with schools to recommend interventions, on behalf of my clients, as an aid to helping them overcome their difficulties. I am also in a position to advise parents on school procedures and how best they can help their child.
I have a plethora of practical visual resources for my clients and parents. My room promotes a warm, safe environment and is designed to accommodate sensory needs so that trusting relationships can be established.
