About me
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust.
Qualifications - MBBS, MRCSEd, MSc, FRCS(Tr & Orth), Fellow EBOT, PG Cert (Med Ed).
Specialisation - Lower Limb Arthroplasty (Hip and Knee replacements), Arthroscopy and General Trauma.
Training - I did my higher surgical orthopaedic training from North East England. I then underwent further fellowship training in hip and knee replacements from the University of Toronto, the prestigious centre for hip surgery, Wrightington and then the Golden Jubilee Hospital, Glasgow.
I was awarded the British Orthopaedic Association travelling fellowship to Endo-Klinik, Hamburg and University Hospital, Copenhagen, where I received training in hip / knee replacements and rapid recovery programme.
Practice - My clinical practice includes, management of lower limb disorders; including hip and knee replacements, knee meniscal injuries and general trauma.
Others roles- I have a keen interest in academic activities. I am also actively involved in teaching and I am a foundation programme tutor for junior doctors . I am a faculty member at FRCS (Orth) preparatory courses. I have numerous presentations at national and international meetings; including the British Orthopaedic Association, European Orthopaedics, Canadian Orthopaedics and American Academy. I have several publications as first author and have co-authored a FRCS Orth book chapter. I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Hip Society.
