About me
I was appointed a Consultant Plastic Surgeon based at Addenbrookes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 1996. Initially my main focus was on skin cancer and breast reconstruction and I set up Research projects on the early detection of skin cancer which has resulted in a number of publications, presentations and Research doctorates. I remain involved in early detection of skin cancer by being the Clinical Advisor for skin for Check4Cancer which offers skin screening for those who are concerned about skin lesions.
In 2002 I became the Clinical Director for the Cleft Lip and Palate Service based at Addenbrooke's for the babies born in East Anglia with this condition and my NHS practice was largely paediatric and Cleft Lip and Palate. I was on the Medical Advisory board for Operation Smile UK and worked with Surgeons in Ethiopia to develop a Plastic Surgery and Cleft service in a remote part of this developing country. I retired from the NHS in November 2023.
I have retired from the NHS and only work privately now. I no longer offer appointments for Cosmetic surgery issues but continue to work on skin lesions, moles and skin cancers such as SCCs, SCCs and Melanoma. I support my colleagues in Dermatology in removing skin cancers from awkward sites requiring sometimes complex reconstructions.
I also see children with moles and skin lesions but please note I am NOT a dermatologist so do not see children with skin complaints such as acne..
Areas of interest
Moles and skin cancer detection and surgery. 30 year research interest in early detection of skin cancers. Works closely with dermatology colleagues to provide rapid referral clinics for skin lesions that are troublesome or skin cancer. ~
