About me
Mr Joel Humphrey is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in problems affecting the foot and ankle.
He studied Orthopaedic Sciences at University College London before qualifying as a doctor at Barts and The London Medical School. He completed his specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at leading London hospitals, including Guy's, King's and St Thomas'.
Before becoming a consultant, Mr Humphrey completed two advanced specialist fellowships. He undertook a Foot and Ankle Reconstruction Fellowship at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, gaining extensive experience in treating complex foot and ankle conditions. He then completed a Trauma Fellowship at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he developed expertise in managing serious foot and ankle injuries.
Mr Humphrey also holds a Master's degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He has a strong interest in helping people return to their normal activities after injury, whether that is walking comfortably, staying active, or returning to sport. As a keen sportsman who has completed several marathons and taken part in Arctic Circle expeditions, he understands first-hand how injuries can affect daily life and performance.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Humphrey is actively involved in research to improve patient care and outcomes. He has published widely in medical journals and has presented his work at national and international meetings. He also plays an important role in training future orthopaedic surgeons.
Mr Humphrey helps shape national standards of care as a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) Council and Chair of its Clinical Practice Committee.
He has been a fully accredited specialist on the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Orthopaedic Surgery since 2017 and is a consultant at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust.
