About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the HCPC. My interest in psychology stemmed in part from my own personal experiences with mental health. These experiences led me on a path toward becoming a Clinical Psychologist.

About My Training:

During my doctoral training, I gained experience in various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Since qualification, I have undertaken further 3-year training in Experiential Dynamic Therapy (EDT). EDT focuses on the importance of experiencing feelings and considers the obstacles that may get in the way of our capacity to do this. I have also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR, Parts 1-4), often used in the treatment of trauma but can be used effectively with many different presenting issues. I have undertaken further training in models such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My Experience:

My clinical experience has spanned various specialties. After gaining my qualifications, I spent several years working in an NHS adult mental health setting. More recently, I have moved roles and now work with NHS staff. Outside of my NHS role, I have a particular interest in a range of womens health issues, for example working with women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, adjustment to parenthood, and the experience of menopause.

Additionally, I've worked extensively with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, low self-confidence, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, and difficulties stemming from early life experiences. I'm also experienced in helping individuals dealing with psychological issues arising from physical health problems, including medically unexplained symptoms, somatic problems, and chronic pain.

How I Approach Therapy:

If you choose to work with me, we will begin with an initial assessment, usually spanning one or two sessions. This assessment helps me understand your current challenges and formulate a treatment plan. As mentioned above, I draw from a diverse range of psychological models to tailor our therapy. Our journey in therapy is collaborative, and we will strive to establish a safe and trusting relationship. The duration of therapy varies for each person and is something we can discuss during the assessment phase. Currently, I have availability for time-limited therapy with a fixed number of sessions, ranging from 6 to approximately 40 sessions.

Please note that I do not provide couples therapy.

I am currently offering sessions online. Face to face sessions may be available on request.
