About me

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist holding a BSc Psychology degree (BSC Hons) and a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (CPsychol). I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as well as being accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), where I hold full membership with their Division of Counselling Psychology. As part of my training, I undertook over six years of rigorous training in a wide range of psychological theory, professional research and clinical practice in order to become an effective and competent Practitioner. I practice under the HCPCs code of conduct and the British Psychological Society's code of conduct and ethics. I am listed in the BPS Directory of Chartered Members and on the HCPC Register of Practitioner Psychologists.

For over fourteen years, I have provided short, medium and long-term individual psychological therapy in a variety of settings. The majority of my work has been for the National Health Service (NHS) in Trusts in and around London. This has included working in Primary Care Services and General Practice Surgeries. I have also worked within Secondary Care Services with individuals who have more complex needs and histories of trauma. Examples of NHS Trusts I have worked for include East London NHS Foundation Trust, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, Southwark NHS Trust, South West London and St George's NHS Trust and Kent and Medway NHS Trust. I also have experience of working for Essex probation service, in addition to a number of charitable organisations including Only Connect, Mind, Samaritans, beat, Place2be and Brighton Oasis Project.

I continue to work within the NHS in Tower Hamlets alongside my private practice.

I provide a safe, confidential, regular time and space in which I will support you to share, explore, understand and bring about change. My therapeutic approach is very relational and informed by psychodynamic theory, attachment theory and research, developmental neuroscience and relational psychoanalysis.

I am most concerned with understanding, nurturing and developing a secure and strong therapeutic relationship with individuals I see. I believe that this provides a necessary foundation from which personal growth and change can begin to occur. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship has a closer link to therapeutic movement than the specific type of counselling approach chosen. I am committed to exploring each individuals unique experience and I meet with each person as a fellow human being rather than a patient. I avoid labelling people in ways that are unhelpful and I do not believe in a quick fix, one size fits all approach. I am committed to making long-term therapy available to members of the public which is beyond the remit of the NHS.
