About me

I graduated in medicine from the University of Leeds in 2008. I also hold a First-Class honours degree in medical sciences. I undertook my foundation training at the Leeds University Teaching Hospitals, after which I started specialist training in the Yorkshire Deanery, working in Leeds, Huddersfield, and Hull. I have been a consultant neurologist since 2017 and possess considerable experience in a broad range of acute and chronic neurological diseases. I am also an expert in the diagnosis and management of dementia and movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease and other tremors. I run specialist clinics for these conditions at Hull Royal Infirmary. This is in addition to general clinics for symptoms such as headaches, seizures, funny turns, dizziness, pins and needles, numbness, weakness, etc. My approach to patients with neurological symptoms is simple. Every patient presents in a unique way, needs to be listened to, and deserves to be treated the same way you would want to be treated yourself.
As a consultant, I have helped develop a pathway to improve the diagnosis of dementia in Hull. I chair a monthly multidisciplinary meeting with healthcare providers treating patients with dementia at the Hull Memory Clinic.
I have a keen interest in the training of junior doctors and aspiring neurologists. As an educational supervisor and academic coordinator, I am responsible for the training of doctors at various stages of their training.
I am the Royal College of Physicians regional specialty advisor for Yorkshire, a member of the service committee of the Association of British Neurologists, and a council member of the North of England Neurological Association.
